Repentance

Remorse over sin that produces a profound change of heart, mind and actions moving away from wrongdoing and towards a renewed God-honoring life.
So often it seems that the idea of repentance puts a bad flavor in people's mouth, when in reality it is one of the most amazing things someone could ever experience. Thomas Carlyle said, "Of all acts of man repentance is the most divine. The greatest of all faults is to be conscious of none."

• Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord, Acts 3:19
Meditation: Repentance is refreshment.


• Godly sorrow brings repentance that leads to salvation and leaves no regret, but worldly sorrow brings death. - 2 Corinthians 7:10

• Opponents must be gently instructed, in the hope that God will grant them repentance leading them to a knowledge of the truth, - 2 Timothy 2:25

  Come near to God and he will come near to you. Wash your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded. Grieve, mourn and wail. Change your laughter to mourning and your joy to gloom. Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up. - James 4:8-10
  Meditation: God wants you to come into His Kingdom. He wants to lift you up but you must first bathe in the river of repentance.


• I tell you, no! But unless you repent, you too will all perish. - Luke 13:3

• if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land. - 2 Chronicles 7:14

But the Pharisees and the teachers of the law who belonged to their sect complained to his disciples, “Why do you eat and drink with tax collectors and sinners?” Jesus answered them, “It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.” - Luke 5:29-32
